Tattoo advice?
« on: July 22, 2015, 03:02:55 PM »
So I want to get my first tattoo and I want something that represents satanism.
I have an idea of a few symbols I wouldn't mind getting done, but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

I was originally going to get the "Leviathan Cross" but I don't agree with the Church of Satan or LaVey's teachings, and the symbol doesn't seem to have any other connection to Satanism. Thoughts?

Any suggestions are appreciated

I like simple designs over intricate. I often agree with the sentiment that "less is more." I'd suggest an inverted pentagram.

Most basic example

Other variations

This is one of the first ones I thought about, I feel it's a bit too "obviously satanist" (my family aren't very understanding or accepting of things they haven't been indoctrinated with, eg: they still think "Britian is a white country, and should stay that way". So explaining why I have the sign of satan inked into my skin could lead to some issues)

Thank you for the reply though :)

The only one I can really think of is maybe a snake wrapped around your arm but I'm not sure if that's too obvious or not lel
The only other thing I could suggest is maybe a symbol of anarchy or rebellion? It fits nicely with satanism and it might be easier to find something that you could get without it being to blatant. I'm sorta looking around for ideas for a tattoo also  ;D

I've been seriously considering getting a dragon tattoo  ;D
Satan is referred to as "the dragon" in revelations, but Dragons are such a common pop culture trope in non-Satanic contexts that it's unlikely anyone would guess what it meant to me unless I told them!

Plus, I just really like dragons!  ;D
"One of the most important things in life is what Judge Learned Hand described as 'that ever-gnawing inner doubt as to whether you're right.' If you don't have that, if you think you've got an inside track to absolute truth, you become doctrinaire, humorless and intellectually constipated." -Alinsky

That's pretty cool, dragon tattoos have become really common and unless you get it done by one of the world famous artists (like Kat Von D) they just seem, I dunno, tacky for less of a better word.
I'd like to get a traditional Chinese dragon across my back but because it's so common, I'm not going to bother, it's like a fad these days.

I was also going to suggest a snake. Snakes are awesome!

Also, you could pick a tenet that means the most to you and have that like across your back in fancy script. Or if not the tenets then you could pick words the represent Satanism like "pride," "liberty," "independence," etc.

Actually, I love the Tenets idea! I'm definitely gonna get that done, "The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word." is probably the one is go for.

I've also found a pentagram design that I want to get tattooed.. I can see this being expensive ^_^

I LOVE DRAGONS TOO <3

My family name actually comes from the German "Drachen," so I like to tell people I'm a dragon. I didn't know about the Satanic aspect of dragons though; this makes me love MY dragon tattoo even more than I already do :)

My biggest advice is once you decide on a design, keep a picture of it on your desk for six months to a year before actually getting it inked. If you still love it, go for it. I love all of my tattoos, but i wish i'd have thought a little harder about one of'em :)

I have a few 'Satanic' tattoos, and love all of them; but I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiment that you should think about them. My general rule is that if I've wanted a specific tattoo for over 12 months then I can get it.

I have an inverted pentagram between my shoulder blades, and the brimstone symbol on my right thigh (it's teeny though). My most recent two are more overt -- a baphomet on my right forearm, and some "Enochian" on the left. The Enochian is largely as I like the typeface, although the text is actually Latin for "And the Devil Came to Me" (these are indeed song lyrics), I just used an Enochian typeface to type it out.
